Just a few lines on OCR for those who are not familiar with it. OCR viz Optical Character Recognition is a smart piece of software that can extract TEXT from an image or a similar file and provides it in an editable format. You can then Copy/Paste the output into your favorite text editor.
Almost all recent scanners have an inbuilt OCR that can manage an image to text conversion, but what if you wish to perform OCR on an image file that you received in mail. You obviously won't print the document and then scan it again to get the Text right:)
As always, there is a solution for this. The easiest method would be doing it online.
Some key features of the product.
1) The system supports around 28 different languages.
2) It can handle 8 varieties of file formats
3) This Service gives possibility to convert your output in 6 different formats
4) It is free of cost to be used 5 time per user.
5) Considering the total time taken for scanning and performing OCR, this system is very quick.
The only drawback I see here is... Once you create an account, you get just 5 free credits and every credit lets u convert 1 page or image. So in simple terms, 1 account = 5 attempts.
I was allowed to create multiple accounts and get more benefit from each so I assume they do allow multiple accounts per PC and that can assure an uninterrupted service. You will have to check on this though.
Still further, if you want some more credits, you can take part in their free bonus credit programs or simply purchase the credits if you like the system.
